Huddersfield Giants have announced that back row Bobby Fairbank has put to paper on a new three-year contract.
The 22-year-old academy product is currently sidelined with a wrist injury, but is expected to be back in full training in early May after playing in five of the Giants' opening six Super League matches.Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said: "This news will be very well received by our supporters as Bobby is a very popular member of our squad.
"In a very short period of time playing in Super League Bobby has established himself into the heartsof our fans with some tremendously intense and workmanlike performances over long periods of time."
Fairbank, nephew of former Bradford and Great Britain forward Karl Fairbank, said: "I'm really happy to have got the deal sorted. When I found out the Giants wanted to re-sign me, I was over the moon."
Meanwhile, Huddersfield say the knee injury to utility player Tommy Lee is not as bad as first feared.
The Giants had initially feared the 24-year-old could be sidelined for up to four months after suffering ligament damage in his side's 22-4 win over Hull on Easter Monday.
However, a more detailed scan has shown Lee will not require surgery and he could be back playing in two months.
