Centre Frankie Mariano has been brought into Wakefield's 19-man squad for the visit of Salford to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Saturday.
Mariano comes in to replace youngster Lucas Walshaw in the only change to the squad after the 38-18 defeat to Leeds in the Carnegie Challenge Cup last time out.Walshaw, who was named in the starting line-up against the Rhinos, has been suffering from a tight hamstring this week.
Forward Steve Southern spends a third straight game on the sidelines as he as he continues to recover from a calf strain, while Ali Lauitiiti is not expected to return from his hamstring injury for another month.
Salford have senior players Luke Patten, Daniel Holdsworth, Stephen Wild and Chris Nero back after they all sat out the Challenge Cup win at Whitehaven last weekend.
Exciting winger Jodie Broughton also returns to the squad after being absent from the cup win.
Reds coach Phil Veivers says his team are "desperate" to get back to winning ways after five defeats in the last six league games.
"The most important game of the season is on Saturday. We've spoken about that. It's all about Wakefield," Veivers said.
"It's going to be another tough game. We're desperate for a win. They've lost their last three, we've lost our last three so we're probably on a par.
"Both want to play some football and both need to improve their defensive efforts."
Wakefield currently sit 10th in the Stobart Super League table after securing just two wins all season and will be hoping to kick-start their campaign at home to their fellow strugglers.
