Willie Manu to leave Hull FC

RSS News feeds

Hull FC have confirmed Willie Manu will leave at the end of the season after rejecting offers to stay with the East Yorkshire club.

The 32-year-old forward has decided to pursue a career elsewhere having turned down the chance to become the highest earner with the Stobart Super League side.

The Australia-born former Tonga international, who has been linked with St Helens and Catalan Dragons, is in his fifth season at the KC Stadium after joining from Castleford Tigers.

Director of rugby Shaun McRae has expressed his 'disappointment' at Manu's decision and he now hopes the player will finish his career with the Black and Whites on a high note.

"We're obviously disappointed that Willie has decided to finish his career away from Hull FC, but we wish him well for the future," McRae said.

"We made Willie a number of large offers that would have made him considerably one of the highest earners at the club, but he has decided to look for a contact elsewhere."

Despite their disappointment at Manu's exit, Hull have a ready-made replacement in England international Gareth Ellis, who has agreed a three-year contract from 2013, while Danny Tickle is close to agreeing a new deal.
