Leeds Rhinos centre Zak Hardaker insists the squad are unhappy with the club's below-par Stobart Super League campaign.
Monday's 31-18 defeat to St Helens meant Leeds stayed eighth in the table eight points behind league leaders Wigan Warriors.
Brian McDermott's side overcame adversity last year by winning the Grand Final at Old Trafford from fifth place.
The Rhinos are set to finish outside the top four again and youngster Hardaker insists the squad are determined to improve results, starting with Sunday's Magic Weekend clash against the Bradford Bulls.
"We want to try and finish as high as we can on the league," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"We don't want to be the team that finishes fifth and try and go from there again.
"We are determined to finish a lot higher than that and we are not happy with where we are sitting in the league at the moment, not at all.
"We want to be much higher. We are going to turn it around this week, see where we went wrong on Monday and try and push on.
"We had a disappointing performance this week and we've got to start against at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday."
