Wigan have announced that Australian winger Amos Roberts has retired from the game at the age of 31.
The former St George Illawarra, Penrith and Sydney Roosters player has made the decision after failing to fully recover from a series of knee injuries going back to Easter Monday in 2010.
Wigan chairman Ian Lenagan said: "This is really sad news for Amos and for the club. The decision for any player to retire due to injury is a very difficult one to make.
"I would like to thank Amos for all his hard work and wish him and his family all the very best for the future."
Roberts, whose four-year deal was to expire later this season, scored 27 tries in 55 appearances for the Warriors.
"It is sad to end my career in such a way," he said. "Rugby league has been my life since I first started playing at six years old.
"It has taken me to many great places and I have met some wonderful people. I am happy with everything that I have achieved in my career and consider myself lucky to have played the game I love for so long.
"The players, staff and people of Wigan have been so good to me and I leave with such fantastic memories.
"I wish all my team-mates all the very best and I know they will continue to achieve great things. I want to thank the amazing Wigan fans for the love and support that they have shown me, I will miss the town so much."
Warriors head coach Shaun Wane added: "Mossy has been great for the club. He lit the competition up in 2010 when we won the Super League Trophy with his pace and power.
"For his career to end with injury is heart-breaking for him and his family. He has worn the famous cherry and white jersey with pride and can look back with great satisfaction at his Wigan career."
