Castleford have announced that former centre Michael Shenton will be returning to the club next season.
The 25-year-old left the Tigers for St Helens at the start of the 2011 season after making 153 appearances for them.
He was initially expected to secure a move to Hull KR for next season, but has now agreed a return to his first club, and coach Ian Millward is pleased to have captured his signature on a four-year deal.
"Michael is a quality centre who is very much a current international and has experience of playing in a Grand Final," he said.
"It is brilliant news for the club both on and off the field. For him to make the decision to go back to Cas over quite a few other clubs is a big vote of confidence for us going forward.
"Not only are we getting a quality player, he comes with a mentoring role and he brings experience that we're looking for."
Shenton's signing is likely to be the first of many comings and goings at the Probiz Coliseum over the coming weeks.
A number of players are expected to leave the club as part of a shake-up, while Hull KR centre Jake Webster and Hull scrum-half Jamie Ellis are thought to be on Millward's shopping list.
