Leeds Rhinos have given permisson for Luke Ambler to speak to other clubs with regards to joining them next season.
The Ireland international is in the final year of his contract with the reigning Super League champions and is currently on a dual-registration loan to Halifax.
Ambler was appointed as the Championship club's new business development manager last month and a move away from Leeds will boost his hopes of playing in the 2013 World Cup.
The 22-year-old prop has also played in the top flight for London Broncos, who were then known as Harlequins, spending last season on loan at the Twickenham Stoop.
"I am pleased the Rhinos have given me permission to speak to other clubs ahead of the official deadline," he told Leeds' official website.
"I have really enjoyed my time at Leeds and learnt so much from a great opportunity to be part of a fantastic club.
"I wish things had worked out differently however because of the strength of the squad at the Rhinos I have had limited chances in the first team and spent long periods on loan in London last year and this season at Halifax.
"I would like to thank everyone at the club for their support during my time here and I am now looking forward to taking the next step in my career."
