England v The Exiles Match Preview

Daniel Anderson insists he is happy with the strength of his Exiles squad for Wednesday's clash with England despite a spate of withdrawals.

Already without Thomas Leuluai after he broke a leg in the 18-10 defeat in the first Origin international,

Anderson has seen Huddersfield forwards David Fa'alogo and David Faiumu, Warrington's Trent Waterhouse and St Helens' Lance Hohaia all pull out.

In addition, Vince Mellars (Wakefield), Jake Webster, Ben Galea (both Hull KR) and Michael Robertson (London Broncos) will also miss the clash after initially been added to Anderson's 25-man squad.

That has seen Hull KR duo Constantine Mika and Lincoln Withers, Hull prop Sam Moa and St Helens forward Anthony Laffranchi all called up.

"Most of the players have been pulled by the clubs through unavailability or injury," said former Saints boss Anderson.

"I understand the rigours of the Super League. In the southern hemisphere they get the weekend off before the Origin fixture but obviously we're not at that stage yet.

"We knew there'd be some players who would pull out but we've got a squad of 21 and, although we're still doing a couple of assessments, they should all be available so I've got a nice number to work with."

The squad includes Salford's exciting backs Daniel Holdsworth and Joel Moon while Warrington's veteran full-back Brett Hodgson will captain the team after recovering from injury.

"It's bonus for us having him back in the team," Anderson said. "He was very disappointed to miss game one."

Hodgson also brushed off the number of withdrawals, remaining confident that the overseas selection can provide England with another tough test at Huddersfield's Galpharm Stadium.

"The main point is that everyone wants to be here," he said. "Everyone wants to perform and represent themselves, their team and their country. I can see it being a tough contest."
