Widnes coach Denis Betts singled out Rhys Hanbury for special praise after a stunning 46-8 victory at Super League top eight hopefuls Salford.
The Vikings led 24-0 at half-time with scrum-half Hanbury ripping Salford apart.
Hanbury finished with 22 points from two tries and eight goals, while Cameron Phelps and Patrick Ah Van also scored two touchdowns each as the Vikings their first victory on the road this season.
"It was a great team effort but Rhys was outstanding," said Betts. "He showed phenomenal pace and went round some very quick players for his tries. His confidence is high and he was pretty special.
"I'm exceptionally pleased but this sort of result has been coming.
"We have had some really good performances recently and we showed great composure. Our determination not to let Salford cross our line was outstanding.
"It has taken time but we are growing together and our back rowers were really good."
Salford trailed 40-0 before they grabbed tries from Ashley Gibson and Danny Williams, and coach Phil Veivers had no excuses for their dismal performance.
"Credit where credit is due - Widnes came with a game plan and stuck to it," he said. "They gave it to us and we used a lot of energy up in the first half defending.
"They had 10 sets more than us in the first half and we were probably lucky to be only 24-0 down at half-time.
"We vastly under-performed."
