Salford coach Phil Veivers (picture) is delighted highly-rated teenage centre John Ford has signed a new three-year contract.
Ford, 18, who has been selected for Great Britain’s forthcoming academy tour of Australia is a rising star tipped for a bright future.
Veivers went on to say “John has now completed his studies and is ready to start training with the first team squad.
It’s really good news for the club to see him agreeing a new deal. “We are pleased with his progress.
He is a talented young player with good potential.
“He still has a few shortfalls in his game as you would expect him but it’s my job to help him develop.’’
Salford have had the week off but will step up training next week ahead of the home game with Widnes.
Club bosses are hoping Reds can be selected for another televised TV game before the end of the season – with the money helpful to address ongoing financial concerns.
In the meantime, more potential new investors have also been sounded out and there is said to have been a positive response to this.
