Kallum Watkins has been given the vote of confidence from Brian McDermott to continue as Leeds' emergency full-back.
The centre deputised for the injured Zak Hardaker in the 18-14 World Club Challenge defeat to Melbourne Storm on Friday.
With Hardaker facing a month out with a broken thumb, McDermott says he is happy for Watkins to continue in the role at St Helens on Friday.
"I thought Kallum was good," McDermott said. "I thought he looked very potent and in the main he was defensively very sound.
"In terms of what we expected and what we delivered, he was good and it was a very promising performance from him."
McDermott also revealed that Ryan Bailey could come into contention for the trip to Langtree Park after the prop missed the last two games with a knee problem.
"If he's not available this week he will only just have missed out and he'll probably be available the week after," McDermott said of Bailey. "He has a chance. He has had a knee clean out."
