Salford's new head coach Brian Noble says he plans to establish the club as a leading force in Super League.
Noble's appointment as Phil Veivers' successor was confirmed at the weekend, and he inherits a side bottom of the table after 12 games.
Relegation is not an issue and Noble, the former Wigan, Bradford and Great Britain boss back in the sport more than two years after leaving Crusaders, wants to see a short-term upturn in results.
But with the backing of owner Marvin Koukash, Noble's long-term ambitions are far loftier.
He told Sky Sports: "The ambition of the owner is there for all to see. It's in one of our biggest cities and I think it can go places. I'd like to be a part of that.
"In the short-term we've got to try to climb the ladder but in the medium term there are things we can put in place to improve the club.
"We've got a blank piece of paper for the coming months, and players have the opportunity to show how much they want to play for Salford. I understand the importance of a few wins along the way, and I'm confident we can do it.
"It's a job that's starting from the bottom ground - we're in a huge part of the world and should be attracting a lot of people to watch what is a wonderful sport.
"If we can get that right there's no reason why in a few years Salford can't be up there with the likes of Leeds and Warrington, Wigan and St Helens and having wonderful evenings here in what is the greatest game.
"We'll go as far as we can this season - privately we'll set goals but it's all about trying to instil the right team ethic. You've got to want to be here, and with that kind of commitment nothing is impossible."
