Wigan will be without Blake Green for the next five to six weeks - paving the way for teenager George Williams to make his Super League debut on Saturday.
Williams, 18, seems likely to get the nod to face the London Broncos with Green sidelined by an ankle problem picked up in the Tetley's Challenge Cup win over former club Hull KR.
The Australian stand-off was hurt after being knocked out by a challenge from Rovers forward Cory Paterson, who was subsequently charged with a grade D reckless strike.
If Williams is selected by Warriors head coach Shaun Wane to fill the sizeable void left by Green's asbence, it means the Cherry and Whites could start with a half-back combination with a combined age of 38 this weekend.
Sam Powell, 20, was drafted in at scrum-half against the Robins last Sunday with Matty Smith ruled out with a shoulder injury.
"It's an opportunity for Sam Powell and George Williams who will most likely play at the weekend and I'm excited to see them play," Wane said.
"They train a lot at our standard and I need to know they play at this level."
The Broncos will have to do without Antonio Kaufusi for the fixture at the Twickenham Stoop after the Australian prop was hit with a two-match ban by the Rugby Football League's disciplinary panel.
Kaufusi pleaded guilty to a reckless high tackle on James Donaldson during his side's 25-16 Challenge Cup win over Bradford, meaning he will lose his ever-present record for this season.
