Salford City Reds have made a bid to sign Canterbury Bulldogs and New Zealand star Frank Pritchard.
The Reds' ambitious owner Marwan Koukash has confirmed an offer has been submitted for the 29-year-old back-row, a close friend of St Helens' Tony Puletua, who is being tipped to join the Red Devils in 2014.
"We have made an offer to Pritchard and are waiting to hear back from him," Koukash told the Manchester Evening news.
"We feel he would be a tremendous signing. He is a quality forward.
"We are looking to bring in two big second row forwards to bolster our squad."
Koukash is still trying to prise Rangi Chase from Castleford, having had an initial bid turned down last week.
Meanwhile, departing chief executive Ed Farish will leave the City Reds this week and he believes the club have grown and progressed during Koukash's tenure.
"I am moving on at a time when Salford are busy building a new side for the 2014 season," said Farish. "Firm plans are in place for Salford to eventually become a top club within Super League.
"There is no doubting or disputing the ambition of owner Marwan Koulash. I have greatly enjoyed the experience of being back in England and working within Super League.
"The passion of the fans within the English game is very strong and very impressive. It's been an interesting time for me at Salford. Back in Australia, the media is dominated by rugby league but over here, it's different."
