Huddersfield resign Kyle Wood

Huddersfield resign Kyle Wood

Huddersfield have re-signed Kyle Wood from Super League rivals Wakefield on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

The versatile half-back will officially be on loan with the Giants for the remainder of this season before being on a permanent deal from the start of the 2014 campaign.

The 24-year-old was a member of the Giants squad between 2009 and 2011, but he failed to break into the first-team and joined the Wildcats last year.

Wood has found first-team starts hard to come by, although he has made 15 appearances - mostly from the bench - this season and has proved an excellent fringe player for coach Richard Agar.

"We are delighted to be able to bring forward the planned arrival of Kyle to the club," said Huddersfield managing director, Richard Thewlis.

"Our long-term plan was always to strengthen the options in the halves and hooking area.

"With Kyle being out of contract at the end of this year it was natural that we would target him once the relevant deadlines had passed and we have known for a while that he would be a Giant next year."

With Wood returning to the Giants, the club have confirmed that loanee Brad Dwyer has been sent back to Warrington.
