Joe Wardle has committed his long-term future to the Huddersfield Giants after signing a new contract that keeps him with the Super League club until the end of the 2017 season.
The talented 21-year-old, who has 30 tries in 57 appearances for the West Yorkshire side, believes he can only enhance his game by playing alongside the likes of Brett Ferres, Leroy Cudjoe and Danny Brough.
Huddersfield retained top spot in Super League following Wigan's 22-16 defeat to St Helens on Monday and Wardle thinks it would be an unwise choice to think the grass is greener elsewhere.
"I am pleased to have signed a new deal as it gives me and my family some security," he told the club's official website. "The way the club has progressed over the past few years and the way it continues to progress with wanting to win things it'd be stupid to want to be anywhere else.
"I'm 21 years old and I still have a lot to learn. I learn a lot from playing alongside Brett, Leroy and Broughy and I am sure that my best years are ahead of me. I will continue to try my best and improve and hopefully I will continue to play because of that.
"We are putting a good squad together now and if we can stay together then we can continue pushing for titles. Hopefully we can continue winning and then the silverware will follow."
Giants head coach Paul Anderson expects Wardle to maintain his upward progress, stating the youngster has gone from strength to strength since his appointment last season.
"We are pleased to recruit Joe on a long term deal at the Huddersfield Giants," commented Anderson. "Joe has matured as player since his arrival at the club and as he is only 21 I believe that his best years are still ahead of him.
"Joe is an important member of the squad who consistently performs with high levels of intensity. Joe can hold his own in defence and yet prove to be a valuable attacking threat and it is always nice to have those sorts of players within the squad."
