Leeds Rhinos have awarded long-term contracts to teenage duo Liam Sutcliffe and Thomas Minns after they impressed during the club's injury crisis.
Stand-off Sutcliffe, 18, has been given a four-year deal and three-quarter Thomas Minns, also 18, has signed a three-year contract.
Sutcliffe has stepped superbly into skipper Kevin Sinfield's shoes, scoring five tries in his first three starts at stand-off.
"He's been a stand-out performer," said Rhinos coach Brian McDermott. "I have been surprised how collected and how calm he looks at Super League level.
"Anyone who can step up from U19s to Super League and not only handle it but be able to produce and show some quality as well is quite remarkable.
"Liam Sutcliffe will be on the opposition's tip sheet as someone they need to take care of."
McDermott hopes Sutcliffe will continue his good form in Friday's Grand Final rematch at Warrington.
"It will be interesting," he said. "They have similar games but Sooty has different size and strength.
"He has got some subtlety with the ball that reminds me of the players from 30 or 40 years ago."
Minns made a tryscoring debut against Castleford last month and is in Leeds' 19-man squad for Friday's game.
"He's another success story," McDermott said. "He was at the back of the queue for a lot of his junior career and it's only in the last 18 months he's done some things that's made the club take note so we're glad to have got him tied up as well."
