Matt King announces his retirement

Former Warrington centre Matt King has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old, who won two Challenge Cups with the Wolves as well as the Super League leaders' trophy in 2011, is currently with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

King made his debut for Melbourne in 2003 and moved to Warrington in 2008, making 89 appearances for the Wolves.

He also lists three Australian caps and nine strate of Origin appearances on his resume.

"First of all I would like to thank Craig Bellamy, Tony Smith and of course Michael Maguire," King said of his former and current coaches.

"They have all helped me greatly in achieving my goals over the years. I will look forward to the next chapter in my life once this season is over, and hopefully I can maintain a connection with the sport I love in rugby league, and the club I've grown to love over the past two years in South Sydney."
