Castleford coach Daryl Powell has continued his team restructuring with the signing of former Hull and Hull KR prop Scott Wheeldon following his release by London Broncos.
The 27-year-old has signed a two-year contract and becomes the Tigers' fourth recruit for 2014, following the arrival of his London team-mate Luke Dorn, former Hull scrum-half Brett Seymour and Salford centre Ashley Gibson.
"Scott is a tough, uncompromising player with a strong defence and is somebody who I have kept an eye on since his time on Humberside," Powell told the club's official website.
"He has a quality offload and pass game to go with his strong ball-carrying ability. I'm looking forward to working with him next season."
Wheeldon, who made 31 appearances for the Londoners since joining them from Hull KR in May 2012, is the eighth player to confirm his departure from the Broncos, whose future has yet to be determined.
"I was over the moon when the opportunity came for me to sign for Castleford," said Wheeldon, who had a year left on his London contract.
"There were a couple of options for me but I know from playing there in the past that they have very good and very loyal fans. It was also an opportunity for me to move back home which I was looking to do.
"I've enjoyed my time at London but it's been a little bit difficult at times financially and for other reasons as well. So I was impressed with the all-round package really."
