Sean O'Loughlin is out injured for a month
Wigan's preparations for the Super League play-offs have been dealt a huge blow after Sean O'Loughlin was ruled out for at least a month.
The Warriors captain has been struggling with a calf problem for several weeks, and scans have revealed that he has actually suffered a torn Achilles tendon.
The 30-year-old will be assessed after wearing a protective boot for the next four weeks, but he is not expected to play any part in Wigan's play-off campaign.
Warriors coach Shaun Wane told the Wigan Evening Post: "I'm gutted for Lockers and it's a big blow, but we'll deal with it."
O'Loughlin, who played through the pain to lead his side to victory in the Challenge Cup final last month, is also now a doubt for the World Cup.
England boss Steve McNamara will be monitoring O'Loughlin's progress as he considers his options for the tournament, which starts in October.
