Huddersfield Giants v Hull KR match preview

Huddersfield v Hull KR

It has been two weeks since Huddersfield Giants opened their campaign with a win at Wigan and they will be looking to make it two from two at home to Hull KR.

Last season's League Leaders' Shield winners were impressive in toppling the champions at the DW Stadium with Jermaine McGillvary bagging a hat-trick in a 24-8 victory.

The Giants were a model of consistency in 2013 and Paul Anderson will be eager to begin their home campaign on a winning note. Hull KR suffered defeat to title-chasing Leeds Rhinos in the opening round.

Anderson has an enforced change to deal with after Larne Patrick dislocated his knee against the Warriors. Jason Chan returns while Kruise Leeming and David Faiumu have replacing Shaun Lunt and Anthony Mullally respectively.

Huddersfield's England international Brett Ferres is eager for the Giants to make the John Smith's Stadium a fortress in 2014. "I can't wait to play at home again. We want to make it tough for people to come here, and if they come here and do go away with something then they have had to work really hard for it," he said.

KR are boosted by the news that new signing Kris Keating will be fit to line up against the Giants after a try-scoring debut against Leeds. The visitors will be without prop Michael Weyman after he was banned for two games following dangerous contact in the 34-6 loss to the Rhinos.

Winger David Hodgson will also be absent as he suffered a knee injury in the later stages of the game that will ruled him out of action for up to three months. KR's former Giants full-back Greg Eden will line up against his former club and he expects Scotland international Danny Brough to pull the strings on Sunday.

"Danny Brough is their main man and hopefully we can stop him," Eden told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "We know we have to put things right in training this week. "That's one of the things we've been working on this week. Huddersfield look to have a very strong team as they did last year."
