Knee injury rules out Hull KR's David Hodgson

David Hodgson: Set for three months on the sidelines with a knee injury

Hull KR have suffered a blow with the news winger David Hodgson is facing three months out with a knee injury.

The 32-year-old veteran sustained the knock late on in the Robins' 34-6 season-opening defeat to Leeds on Sunday.

Head coach Craig Sandercock has now confirmed the former England and Great Britain man is facing up to 12 weeks on the sidelines.

"Dave has a high grade two MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury which basically means he faces 12 weeks on the sidelines," Sandercock told the club's official website.

"We felt that Dave was really on his game and some of his reads in defence last weekend were outstanding. He's massively disappointed, as we all are, and he will be a big loss for us."

Hodgson is the second player to be ruled out of KR's upcoming clash against Huddersfield Giants after Mick Weyman picked up a two-game ban for dangerous contact on Leeds' Jamie Peacock.

"For me, it was very, very minor," he continued. "But technically Mick was guilty and that's why we pleaded that way because if you go down the road of fighting it there's a chance of picking up an extra week.

"As I say, it was very minor and I just hope that the match review panel is very consistent this season as it's cost Mick two weeks."
