Hull forward Liam Watts will miss the opening month of the new Super League season because of a knee injury.
The former Hull KR prop suffered knee-ligament damage during his side's pre-season friendly defeat at Featherstone last weekend.
Hull coach Lee Radford admits the loss of the 23-year-old will be a major blow to his team as they look to make a bright start to the campaign.
"It's obviously disappointing for us and especially Liam who is a big part of our pack," said Radford.
"His presence will be missed but it presents another opportunity for another of the players."
Hull start their Super League season with a home match against Salford on Friday evening.
