Castleford head coach Daryl Powell was not content despite his side's dramatic 19-16 victory over Hull FC, describing it as their "worst performance of the season".
The Tigers had to come from behind three times in an absorbing contest at the MAH Jungle as Michael Shenton and Marc Sneyd crossed before Frankie Mariano scored the pivotal try late on to make it five wins from five.
"I don't think we were great today, to be honest," said Powell. "It was probably our worst performance of the season. "I thought Hull played well and put us under pressure. But we found a way to win and the character of the side is obviously fantastic.
"We'll learn a lot of lessons from it as well, which I think is great for us. Hull set up to defend us in a certain way and we didn't handle it real well, so if it happens to us again we'll hopefully learn the lesson.
"The two points are the most important thing and sometimes you've got to find a way to win when you're not playing well and I thought we did that." Powell reserved special praise for Sneyd, who converted all three of Castleford's tries and struck a drop goal in the dying stages in addition to his second-half try.
"He's coming on, Sneydy," the Tigers coach added. "I thought his passing game wasn't fantastic in the first half but I think we only had two sets on their line. "He's a pretty cool, calm sort of character."
Powell did, however, admit he felt Sneyd took the wrong option when he put over a drop goal to give Castleford a three-point cushion instead of keeping Hull penned deep inside their own half.
"I'd rather keep them 100 yards from our try line and not invite them in," Powell said. "They only needed four (points) to win the game."
Opposite number Lee Radford admitted it was a tough defeat to take after a committed performance by his Hull FC team. He said: "They are the cruel ones to take. I thought some of the efforts from some of the players were fantastic and we probably deserved more out of the game than what we got.
"They (Castleford) go on bouncing and obviously we've lost another close one which is disappointing. "It's becoming a bit of a habit, that was probably the third time it's happened, so it's something we want to eradicate real quick."
Radford lost prop Josh Bowden to injury in the first half and he was concerned about the loss of another forward.
"We've got four stood in the changing room now who are obviously not available for selection," added Radford, who confirmed Bowden would go for a scan on his ankle problem. "It causes a few questions, certainly."
