Prop Nick Scruton has ended his six-year stay at beleaguered Bradford after signing for Super League rivals Wakefield.
The former Leeds forward swapped Headingley for what is now the Provident Stadium in 2009 and went on to become a firm favourite with the Bulls, who were docked six points by the Rugby Football League for going into administration earlier this week.
Crisis-torn Bradford's situation has necessitated selling key assets, with Scruton moving to Wakefield for a nominal fee on a one-year deal and the 29-year-old follows in the footsteps of former Bulls team-mate Jarrod Sammut, who completed his switch to the Wildcats last month.
"I'm just looking forward to getting out there and training myself now and get on with the next chapter of my career," Scruton said. "A lot of the (Bradford) fans won't believe it but yesterday was one of the worst days of my life, it genuinely was.
"I've had six years and they've not all been good years, we've had ups and downs but I have loved every minute of my time at Bradford Bulls and it was a sad day yesterday for me to decide that the best decision for me and my family was to leave and come to Wakefield.
"That's the decision I've made and now I'm just looking forward to getting on with it."
Bradford chief executive Robbie Hunter-Paul admitted his frustration at the deal.
"It is obviously hugely disappointing to lose a player to a rival club and this is definitely not a wish of Bradford Bulls. This is the nature of the situation we find ourselves in," he said.
