France forward Jamal Fakir has ended speculation over his future by signing a new 12-month contract with Catalan Dragons, with an option for the 2015 season.
The 31-year-old prop or second-rower, who brought up his 150th appearance for the Dragons this season, had been linked with moves to Wakefield and Hull KR but is content to stay in Perpignan.
"I'm really happy to extend my contract with the Catalan Dragons," Fakir said. "I arrived at the club in 2003 and I'm really proud to celebrate my 10 years here.
"My motivation is entire and I really want to share my experience with the young players who are coming through."
Fakir, who has made 26 appearances this season, is in France's 24-man squad for the World Cup.
The news of his new deal will come as some relief for Catalan coach Laurent Frayssinous following the retirement of Steve Menzies and the departure to Sydney Roosters of captain Remi Casty.
"He again proved this season he can be one of the best forwards in the competition when he is at his best," Frayssinous said.
"We will need him next season. His quality and his experience will be valuable to the squad."
Dragons chief executive Christophe Jouffret said: "We are delighted to keep Jamal at the club. He is one of the most experienced players and will have to be one of the leaders in the Catalans pack next season."
