London Broncos have announced their intention to enter administration.
The Super League club are yet to secure a home for next season and have lost several members of their playing and coaching staff amid ongoing speculation about owner David Hughes' continued involvement.
A club statement read: "London Broncos Rugby League Club have today instructed lawyers to file a Notice of Intention to appoint administrators over the club.
"This will allow 10 working days for the club to work with the Rugby Football League and other parties to secure the club's future and will prevent any creditor from taking action against the club in this period.
"There will be no further comment at this time."
Mike Bishay on Wednesday became the latest player to announce he is leaving the Broncos, who have held preliminary talks over hosting next season's home games at Barnet Football Club.
An eight-year groundshare with rugby union side Harlequins ended in September.
Half-back Bishay wrote on his Twitter page: "Would like to thank everyone that has been involved with the London Broncos over the last seven years for all their help and support.
"It is time now for me to move on to a new challenge. Met the best people in my life there and will never forget them. Thanks for the memories!"
Barnet chairman Tony Kleanthous recently confirmed he was in talks with the Broncos over a move to The Hive. He is thought to be interested in acquiring a stake in the Super League club but only if it became debt-free.
The decision to enter administration is a way of safeguarding the club while talks are ongoing.
The Broncos' inclusion in the 2014 Super League fixture list this week was a positive sign but Bishay is the 15th player to confirm his departure from the club.
That leaves coach Tony Rea with around half a dozen players on the books, while chief executive Gus Mackay is thought to be overseeing a skeleton staff after a raft of redundancies were made at the end of last season.
It is thought the Londoners, who only avoided the wooden spoon in 2013 after Salford were docked points for fielding 14 players in a match against Castleford, would need exemption from the overseas quota to enable Rea to put together a side in time for their opening match at Widnes on February 16.
The Broncos have been replaced by Wigan in the annual Capital Challenge match against London Skolars in January and Featherstone have offered to take their place in Super League for 2014.
