Michael Witt is joining St George Illawarra

Half-back Michael Witt has become the 16th London Broncos player to secure a deal elsewhere after signing a 12-month contract with St George Illawarra.

The 29-year-old has spent the past four seasons in Super League, split between the Broncos and Wrexham-based Crusaders, but a calf injury saw him miss the final six weeks of the 2013 season.

Witt is the 16th player to confirm his departure from the beleaguered Broncos, who are still locked in talks to save the club after they announced their intention to go into administration.

A statement from the Sydney club said: "The St George Illawarra Dragons have today confirmed that Michael Witt has agreed to a one-year contract that will see him join the club until at least the end of the 2014 season."

Witt, who can also play full-back, made 90 NRL appearances from 2003-08 with Parramatta, Manly and New Zealand Warriors before switching codes with Christchurch-based Crusaders.

He will report for pre-season training next Thursday at the Dragons, who have also signed England international Gareth Widdop from Melbourne.
