Hull KR head coach Craig Sandercock has confirmed Rhys Lovegrove will remain a player at New Craven Park for the 2014 Super League season.
It was understood the 26-year-old Australian was surplus to requirements for next year and had been told he was free to find a new club as the Robins planned to revamp their squad.
However, when quizzed about Lovegrove's future Sandercock insists the St George Illawarra Dragons man is part of the club's plans and that he will not be departing.
"Rhys Lovegrove will definitely be staying at the club next year," Sandercock told the Hull Daily Mail. "He has been training really hard with the boys.
"There were a few rumours behind the scenes about squad numbers and the rest of it, and that started a couple of months ago, but Rhys will be here next season and is looking forward to the season ahead."
Meanwhile, Sandercock is yet to decide who will replace Michael Dobson as club captain in 2014 while he is also happy with their goal-kicking options following the Australian's departure.
"I've not yet decided on the captain for next year," he continued. "There are four or five players in my mind that could be a leader for this great club.
"It'll be after our training camp week in Tenerife where I will make my decision. In the New Year, I hope to have our new captain in place.
"We have had Michael Dobson as our captain last year, but now he has moved on. We will have to change our goal-kicker too, and there are a couple of options.
"It will be hard after Dobbo's departure, but we have Travis Burns and Craig Hall who can easily kick the goals for us."
