Former England skipper Jamie Peacock says fans should back the controversial new structure for domestic rugby league.
Super League clubs voted only 7-6 in favour of the Rugby Football League's plan for two divisions of 12 teams, which divides into three of eight after 23 rounds.
Some critics of the plan, which sees the league trimmed from the current 14 to 12 - say the format is too complicated but it has been ratified by the RFL's board of directors and will be put into action next year.
Veteran Leeds forward Peacock said: "I think it's good we have some kind of relegation back and some avenue for the clubs that aspire to be in the top league. Fourteen was too many in the top league.
"I'm going to get behind the structure. I don't think you necessarily need to know all the ins and outs of it. I don't understand how the NFL play-offs works but it doesn't stop me from watching it.
"You watch the sport because you like it, not because of the structure. How it will work, we will only see when we get to 2015."
Peacock, 36, will be the oldest player in Super League this year, following the retirement of Australian Steve Menzies.
He believes his 16th season in the top flight could be one of the most intense, as two teams will be relegated.
"It's going to be more difficult for the players this year for sure because normally when you get into the back end of the season, the bottom four teams have nothing to play for - they're getting ready to go on holiday," he said.
"But this year you are going to be playing for your jobs and your livelihoods. I think it's going to make it a more intense competition all-round."
