Jamie Peacock will retire at the end of 2015,

Leeds stalwart Jamie Peacock has announced that he will retire at the end of 2015, after extending his contract for the next two seasons..

Peacock, 36, joined the Rhinos in 2006 from Yorkshire rivals Bradford, and he is just 17 appearances short of becoming only the fourth player in the summer era to make 400 Super League appearances.

Leeds head coach Brian McDermott paid tribute to the club's 2013 player of the year, who is also the most successful player in the modern era, having won Super League eight times.

"He has been outstanding for us in pre-season and sets the bar, especially for the young fellas about where they need to be to succeed at this club, said McDermott.

"The fact that he has set a timetable for the end of his career will only drive him on and I know he will be looking to go out at the very top of the game."
