Jodie Broughton no regrets about leaving Salford

Jodie Broughton

Huddersfield's off-season signing Jodie Broughton insists he has no regrets leaving the Salford Red Devils for the Giants.

The winger opted to quit Marwan Koukash's Red Devils revolution at the end of the campaign in order to join the League Leaders' Shield winners.

It had been suggested Broughton left at the wrong time with heavy strengthening by Salford meaning expectations are now high at the Greater Manchester club.

Broughton has no qualms with his decision as the former Leeds Rhinos youngster wants to continue progressing his career, stating the John Smith's Stadium side is the ideal destination.

"A few people have suggested I left at the wrong time," Broughton told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

"I'd gone though difficult times and now the times have come good, they said 'don't you wish you'd have stayed'.

"But at this stage of my career I was looking to push on. I want to live close to where I train and I didn't have the option of staying as long at Salford. I've signed a four-year deal here and I knew the coaching staff and a lot of the players.

"With them finishing top of the league last year, I felt this was the right place for me to come to enable me to progress my career.

"I thought this was the best environment for me to come to and I think I've made the right decision."
