Leigh v Wakefield preview
Wildcats hooker Pita Godinet is hoping Trinity can build on the 48-18 victory over Bradford Bulls last week
Godinet made his return from an injury lay-off last weekend and played an influential part in a dominant performance, which saw Brian Smith's men rack up 48 points. The Samoan international said he was pleased to get back out on the pitch and praised the forward pack who made his role at dummy-half a whole lot easier. "It was a bit of a shock to me that I was playing last week." admits Godinet.
"Scott Moore unfortunately picked up an injury during the captain's run and the medical staff had to assess him to see how serious the injury was so I didn't get the nod until the night before. It's great to be back out on the field with the lads though and I really enjoyed the game."
"The forward pack set a great platform and when that happens your outside backs get plenty of room to do their stuff and that was the case against Bradford, when they're doing the tough stuff and making yards it makes my job at hooker a lot easier, so credit has to go to them."
Tomorrow's opponents, Leigh Centurions, are on the back of two losses against Hull KR and Salford Red Devils. However, Godinet is wary of the Centurions' threat and insists the Wildcats must be firing on all cylinders if they are to come away with the spoils.
Richard Owen and Scott Moore both picked up injuries which will rule them out for the remainder of the season. Andy Yates misses out on selection whilst Chris Riley, Pita Godinet and Ali Lauitiiti have all been named in the 19-man squad.
Brian Smith said, “Scott Moore ruptured his bicep in training the day before the game last weekend, he will be out for three months or so with that.
“We are fortunate to be able to bring in Riley, Godinet and Lauitiiti into selection to boost the squad. I think everybody had a bit of mixed feelings of elation and a sort of relief of getting the job done last weekend. We anticipated a really tough game against Bradford and in part they certainly did that to us.”
