Salford Red Devils coach Iestyn Harris has left the club
The Salford Red Devils have come to a 'mutual agreement' with coach Iestyn Harris to end his tenure in charge of the Super League club.
Harris has been away from the club since July, with Salford owner Marwan Koukash revealing the Welshman was suffering with an unspecified illness.
Assistant Ian Watson has been in charge since the 39-year-old took a leave of absence, receiving help and advice from director of rugby Tim Sheens.
Red Devils chief executive Martin Vickers said: "We are pleased to have been able to come to an amicable arrangement with Iestyn Harris so both parties can now move forward. We wish Iestyn all the best in his future career within the game and thank him for his efforts."
Earlier, in his Manchester Evening News column, Koukash strongly hinted that his arrangement with good friend, and former Australia coach, Sheens will be extended beyond this season.
Koukash wrote: "Tim Sheens has been a calming influence on everyone at the Salford Red Devils during some tough times this season.
"I am more than confident he will be staying on beyond this season. The reason for this is the fact we both want it to happen.
"In the past, players have come to play for Salford simply because we have offered more money than any of our rivals.
"Right now, they are happy to come for less than what is on offer elsewhere simply because of the fact they have an opportunity to work with Tim Sheens and his coaching staff."
