Hull FC continued their preparations for the Super League season with a 60-20 derby thrashing of Hull KR at the KC Stadium.
The Airlie Birds ran in 10 tries and claimed local bragging rights as well as the Clive Sullivan Trophy, with four of their off-season signings scoring in front of a crowd of 8,962. Jamie Shaul and Carlos Tuimavave ran in a couple of tries apiece, and there were also scores for Mahe Fonua, Scott Taylor, Mark Minichiello and Sika Manu from their starting 13 alone.
Substitute Steve Michaels and trialist Lee Smith, who returned to league late last season with Wakefield, also added tries, while Marc Sneyd was a perfect 10-for-10 on conversion attempts.
Rovers started the game strongly, with Josh Mantellato scoring the first try of the afternoon, but a penalty apart that would prove to be their only score until Kieran Dixon crossed for two late tries with the game long over as a contest.
Salford Red Devils put up an impressive display in defeating last year's losing grand finalists Wigan Warriors 32-16. The Red Devils kept Wigan off the scoreboard well into the second half when Mark Flanagan, Josh Griffin, Michael Dobson, Robert Lui and Greg Johnson had all scored tries.
Dom Manfredi, Oliver Goldart and Tony Clubb eventually responded for the Warriors but their last-quarter rally came far too late. Treble-winners Leeds Rhinos ran out comfortable 26-12 victors over the Bradford Bulls in Carl Ablett's testimonial game.
Danny McGuire produced one of the highlights of the game with a long-range try, but the Bulls led 12-10 before being dominated by the Super League side in the second half. Tom Briscoe, Ryan Hall and Mitch Achurch all scored tries for the Rhinos, and Rob Burrow's sublime dummy saw him cross before a late score for new signing Beau Falloon.
And there was another wide-margin winner at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, where the Warrington Wolves routed the Leigh Centurions 46-4 in a testimonial for Simon Grix. Gene Ormsby played a starring role for Warrington, scoring three of their nine tries, with Ashton Sims, Rhys Evans, Kurt Gidley, Tom Lineham, Ben Currie and Kevin Penny also crossing.
Denny Solomona went one better than Ormsby with four tries in Castleford's 32-6 win over Wakefield and St Helens were beaten 30-16 at home by the Widnes Vikings.
