Catalan v Huddersfield preview
Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary says the Giants will be paying special attention to old boy Jodie Broughton in Saturday's game against Catalans Dragons in Perpignan.
Broughton made 30 appearances in two seasons for the Giants before cutting short his stay to sign a two-year deal with the Dragons, where he has become their leading tryscorer in Super League XXI.
The Leeds-born flier, once officially the fastest man in the sport, grabbed a hat-trick against his former team-mates in Catalans' 46-26 victory at the John Smith's Stadium in March and has 13 tries in all, two more than England international McGillvary.
"It will be good to play against Jodie again," said McGillvary. "He scored a hat-trick against us at home so we will have to sort him out and keep him quiet.
"He is having a fantastic season so it will be hard but they have a whole squad of quality players, so it will always be a tough match."
The Catalans have emerged as genuine title contenders after putting together a seven-matching winning run, which came to an end in Hull a fortnight ago, and remain especially difficult to beat on home soil.
The Giants were one of only two teams to win at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in 2015 and so far this year only Hull FC and Warrington have won there, but McGillvary is hoping the Yorkshire club, next to bottom of the table, have turned the corner after winning three of their last four league and cup matches.
"I know we haven't been playing that well, but we're on a good run now," he said. "We're in fine form so hopefully we can go over there and do a good job.
"I am always confident that we can win as we have got the players in the team that on our day could beat any team in the league, so there is no reason to be afraid.
"Catalans are a top team with some big players but we have some quality players in our side as well and on our day we can beat anyone."
The Dragons have stand-off Todd Carney back from injury and could give a debut to prop Romain Navarrete, 21, after losing Dave Taylor and Jason Baitieri to suspension.
Huddersfield are set to welcome back scrum-half Jamie Ellis, who has been out for three months with a shoulder injury.
"Jamie Ellis has a chance," said Giants coach Paul Anderson.
"He has trained the past two weeks and he has passed everything he can so I will make a decision when we are out there and see where we are in regards to the team."
