Huddersfield have confirmed the immediate departure of head coach Nathan Brown, following their Challenge Cup semi-final defeat against Warrington.
Brown, 38, was due to leave at the end of the season, to take up the head coach role at St Helens, but exits the Galpharm Stadium early.
Paul Anderson will now step up to the head coach role, several months earlier than anticipated.
Giants managing director Richard Thewlis said: "Clearly all can see that we have not performed to a level that we are confident this squad is capable of.
"It is a sad day when the coach leaves any club and I pay tribute to the enormous contribution that Nathan has made to the Giants in his three and a half years with us."
Brown took charge in 2009 and led Huddersfield to final positions of 3rd, 5th and 4th in his three full seasons in charge.
He said: "I leave sorry that my time has ended earlier than probably anyone would have wished but I understand the clubs decision."
