Challenge Cup: Batley Bulldogs v Huddersfield Giants preview

Team news ahead of Sunday's Tetley's Challenge Cup clash between Batley Bulldogs and Huddersfield Giants.

Challenge Cup at Mount Pleasant

Batley Bulldogs boss John Kear believes the Championship outfit have nothing to fear ahead of their Tetley's Challenge Cup fourth round clash with Huddersfield Giants on Sunday.

The in-form Giants head into the game on the back of three straight Super League wins, scoring over 150 points in the process.

But Kear is relishing the opportunity of locking horns with the top tier side, whom the Bulldogs narrowly lost 28-18 to in their Challenge Cup quarter final clash at Mount Pleasant in 2011.

Kear told the club's official website: "The players are very excited, and they have every right to be.

"They are confident in being able to achieve big things and we are playing the second best team in the country at the moment. It will be a fair old test, but it does not fill us with fear."

In team news, Ayden Faal is doubtful having been sent home from training with whooping cough, while Mark Applegarth is an definite absentee. But Ben Black, who picked up a knock in the hard-fought 30-16 defeat of Whitehaven last time, should be in consideration after a recovery session earlier this week.

Meanwhile, Giants head coach Paul Anderson is not underestimating the threat the Bulldogs will pose.

"The Challenge Cup is a fairytale competition and there is only us who can lose this game at the weekend," Anderson told his club's official website.

"If Batley put up a big fight with a big crowd watching and win, then that means everyone will be happy apart from us because in truth, there is only us that can fail.

"We have got to go in with the right attitude, play how Huddersfield Giants play and hopefully defend our way to a win."

Ukuma Ta'ai is included in a strong Giants squad as he looks to feature for the first time since March, while young prop Nathan Mason is also included for the first time.

Giants squad: Grix, George, Cudjoe, Wardle, McGillvary, Brough, Crabtree, Lunt, Kopczak, Ferres, Faiumu, Lawrence, Patrick, Ta'ai, Murphy, Cording, Dawson, Johnson, Mason
