Challenge Cup: North Wales Crusaders v Hull FC preview

Team news ahead of Sunday's Tetley's Challenge Cup clash between Hull and North Wales Crusaders.

Hull coach Peter Gentle is determined to get off the mark in the Tetley's Challenge Cup when his side host North Wales Crusaders on Sunday.

The Australian saw his Airlie Birds beaten by Huddersfield at home in the fourth round last year, meaning he is searching for his first win in the competition ahead of the clash with the current Championship One leaders.

"It was all very new to me last year and it happened on the back of Easter when we weren't in very good shape," Gentle told the club's official website.

"We're in much better shape this year and we're all looking forward to it. It's a competition within a competition, you don't get any second chances and it's unique in rugby league as there's nothing like it in the NRL."

The Black and Whites boss is able to welcome back England centre Kirk Yeaman and front-rower Paul Johnson to his 19-man squad, while there are also places for youngsters Jack Briscoe, Danny Nicklas and James Cunningham.

With a game against Wigan to come the following week, winger Tom Briscoe is not risked after suffering a dead leg in the victory over Salford last time out.

Joe Arundel is another absentee after limping from the field at the Salford City Stadium while full back Shannon McDonnell and prop Mark O'Meley are not risked having picked up minor knocks.

The Crusaders, meanwhile, reached this round of the competition thanks to an 82-6 triumph over West Hull in the last round. They got to the same stage last year too, going down 98-4 to Wigan.

However they are yet to taste defeat in six competitive outings this season, including running in 32 unanswered points in a 44-6 win over London Skolars last time out.

The match will see a sibling rivalry on the field; Crusaders full-back Tommy Johnson will get the chance to go up against brother, Paul.

Hull: Bowden, J. Briscoe, Crookes, Crooks, Cunningham, Green, Hadley, Heremaia, Horne, Houghton, Johnson, Lineham, Lynch, Nicklas, Pitts, Shaul, Watts, Westerman, Yeaman.

North Wales Crusaders: Johnson, Reardon, Roets, Brennan, Massam, Moulsdale, Durbin, MacDonald, McConnell, O. Brown, Middlehurst, Adamson, Gorski, Clarke, Braddish, Smith, Hudson, Bannister, White.
