Warrington forward Mike Cooper will leave the club at the end of the Super League season to join the St George Illawarra Dragons.
The Wolves have agreed to release the 24-year-old prop from the last 12 months of his contract to enable him to join the Dragons from 2014.
"It's something I've wanted to do since the age of 16," said Cooper, whose younger brother Jack recently returned from a spell with Australian club Wynnum Manly Seagulls to join Swinton.
"Being a Warrington lad, I'm very proud to have been a part of what the club has achieved over the last couple seasons with the recent success in the Challenge Cup and in reaching the Grand Final.
"The next step for me is to test myself in Australia and gain some experience.
"I'm fully aware it's going to be big learning curve for me. I'll be back at square one again really but it's something that really excites me."
As part of the agreement, Cooper will return to Warrington on a two-year deal following his spell in Australia. It is similiar to the arrangement announced a week ago by Wigan, who agreed to release England forwards Lee Mossop and Gareth Hock to enable them to join Parramatta while securing first option on their return to Super League.
They will all join former St Helens skipper James Graham and the four Burgess brothers in the NRL, where currrent Warrington skipper Adrian Morley was hugely successful from 2000-06.
Cooper has made 118 appearances, including last October's Grand Final, since making his debut in 2006.
Warrington coach Tony Smith, who played for the Illawarra Steelers and the St George Dragons prior to their merger in 1999, said: "Mike has expressed that he has no wish to play for any other English or Super League club.
"However, he does have a desire to go and test his wares in the NRL and he's been fortunate to be given that opportunity by St George Illawarra.
"We are happy to assist him in developing himself as a player and we hope this opportunity will be of benefit to both Mike and this club at some stage in the future."
St George Illawarra chief executive Peter Doust said: "A number of people based in England have recommended Mike to us and he is a good value proposition for us over the next two seasons."
Cooper will link up with England stand-off Gareth Widdop at the Dragons, who are also expected to sign Castleford's former Man of Steel Rangi Chase.
