Hull FC v Salford Red Devils Match Preview

Airlie Birds v Red-Devils

Hull FC begin the first part of their double-header against Salford Red Devils with a Super League meeting at the KC Stadium on Friday night.

The teams have been paired together in the Tetley's Challenge Cup and will also meet once again in East Yorkshire next Thursday, a game in which owner Marwan Koukash is putting on free travel for fans for the fourth-round clash.

The Black and Whites are looking to return to winning ways on Friday having suffered a 7-0 loss to Widnes, while the Red Devils upset previously unbeaten Castleford on the same day.

The pressure is firmly on Hull coach Lee Radford to deliver on their undoubted potential while the return on Rangi Chase to action means Salford will be dangerous opposition.

Hull, who have lost skipper Gareth Ellis to suspension, have Jamie Shaul returning at full-back and Radford recalls scrum-half Jacob Miller and forward Jay Pitts.

Second-rower Dean Hadley is set to make his first appearance of the season after being an unused substitute in the home defeat by the Vikings.

"Jake is going to start tomorrow (Friday), the drums have been banging for him to play and it's a big challenge for him," Radford told the club's official website.

"He had a good solid pre-season but the reason he hasn't been playing was because of his performances in the friendlies. Nobody came out of the Featherstone friendly with any credit but we were disappointed with some of his efforts defensively against Bradford.

"He's been working hard on that every day at training ever since and he deserves his opportunity. He's really knuckled down and it's on him to take his chance now."

Salford are confident of having forward Steve Rapira back from a shoulder injury in what is likely to be the only change to the side that beat the Tigers.

On-loan Wigan Warriors Winger Dom Manfredi is still sidelined with a shoulder injury sustained on his debut a fortnight ago.

Hull FC: Arundel, Crooks, Colbon, Hadley, Heremaia, Horne, Houghton, Miller, Paleaaesina, Pitts, Rankin, Shaul, Talanoa, Thompson, Tuson, Watts, Westerman, Whiting, Yeaman.

Salford Red Devils: Ashurst, Dixon, Fages, Sa'u, Hansen, A. Walne, Gleeson, Chase, Johnson, Lee, Puletua, Morley, Mullaney, McPherson, J. Walne, Smith, Tasi, Rapira, Meli.
