Koukash unhappy after wife Mandy's Bradford Bulls bid fails
Salford chairman Marwan Koukash said he was "very angry" on behalf of his wife Mandy after she failed in her bid to become the new owner of Bradford Bulls.
Local businessman Marc Green has been unveiled as the new owner of the Super League club, who have been in administration for the last eight weeks.
Green's bid was preferred to that of Mandy Koukash, and her husband claimed there had been a lack of contact from the parties involved in the sale of the club after her interest came to light.
Marwan Koukash told Sky Sports News: "First of all I want to congratulate Marc Green for his successful takeover - for his successful bid.
"Mandy obviously is very upset and I am very angry for her as well because I think no-one in the last couple of weeks has made a courtesy call to thank her for her bid, or to tell her of the outcome, and we are having to hear the news through the media.
"It should upset everyone in rugby league because what you have is a potential investor who was willing to invest almost £1million into Bradford this year - or into rugby league in general - so why not grab and welcome these people?
"Even if their bid is not successful you should be in contact with them and encouraging them to stay in the sport."
Koukash insists there would have been no conflict of interest when his Salford team played against Bradford and he believes the interest generated by the matches would have benefitted the sport.
He said: "It would have been fantastic for the sport. We would have gained more write-ups in the papers about rugby league and more discussions on television about Koukash matches or husband versus wife. It would have been a good story to write about.
"It's a shame Mandy hasn't been given that chance with Bradford Bulls but you never say never, and sooner or later she will be involved with another club."
Koukash also believes Green still has plenty of work to do at Bradford, with the Bulls bottom of Super League on minus two points after having six points deducted for going into administration on the eve of the season.
He said: "They're not out of the woods yet. Obviously what Marc needs to do is strengthen the team. Francis Cummins is crying for players and the squad has been depleted.
"It would be an absolute disaster for rugby league in general for Bradford to drop out of Super League."
