Hull Kingston Rovers have confirmed prop Evarn Tuimavave has been released from the remaining one year contract at New Craven Park on compassionate grounds.
The 29-year-old former New Zealand international joined the club on a two-year deal from the Newcastle Knights in July last year, but it is understood that he struggled to make an impact.
Tuimavave made 23 appearances for the East Yorkshire club as they made the Super League play-offs, however, he has now returned home to be nearer friends and family.
"Evarn requested a release as he wanted to return home to be nearer family and friends," said Robins' CEO, Mike Smith.
"On behalf of everyone at the club I'd like to thank him for his contribution during 2013 and wish him all the very best for the future."
Tuimavave's agent Jim Banaghan has confirmed his client failed to settle into life in England, saying to the Hull Daily Mail: "Some blokes love it in England, some get homesick and that was the case with Evarn.
"He just wasn't really happy living over there. Hull is a great place and Super League is a great competition, but he probably just went there when he was too young."
Rovers have brought in the likes of Michael Weyman, Neville Costigan, Kris Keating and Jamie Langley during the close season and Tuimavave's exit means they have additional room in their 2014 salary cap.
