Huddersfield v Catalan preview
Huddersfield Giants bring winger Jodie Broughton back into the 19-man player pool, with Chris Bailey making way.
Huddersfield Giants Head Coach Paul Anderson described Friday’s Super 8s home clash against Catalans Dragons (8pm kick-off) as a must-win game.
The Giants currently sit fourth in the table, and with the likes of Castleford and Warrington hot on their heels, Anderson is well aware of how important victory in Friday night’s game is.
“We need to win to hold onto that fourth spot, it’s as simple as that,” said Anderson. “It’s about winning games - the target is getting smaller every week now. We’re the team that everybody wants to beat because we’re in the position of fourth. Everybody is coming to us thinking we’re the team they can catch and we’ve got to rise to that.”
Giants Coach Paul Anderson has named his 19-man squad for Huddersfield Giants’ Super 8s clash against Catalans Dragons
.
Jake Connor returns to the squad, as does Jodie Broughton, who missed last week’s Super 8s opener against Wigan with a calf injury. They replace Chris Bailey and Jared Simpson from last week’s 19-man squad.
Catalans Dragons are able to name star Australian playmaker Todd Carney in the squad after a pectoral injury, with Stan Robin missing out.
Centre Ben Pomeroy is suspended so ex-Whitehaven loanee winger Jordan Sigismeau is added to the 19-man squad.
Giants were one of only two teams to beat Catalans at home in Super League and also beat them at the John Smith's Stadium in the regular season.
The two clubs drew at Magic Weekend in May.
