Huddersfield's Leroy Cudjoe touches the ball down in his own in-goal area before Warrington's Chris Sandow
Four tries from Jermaine McGillvary gave Huddersfield a 48-10 win over Warrington at the John Smith's Stadium.
Aaron Murphy added a hat-trick of his own as the Giants marched into third place in the standings after five Super 8s rounds. Joe Wardle and Jamie Ellis were the other two players to score for the home side, while Ben Westwood and Roy Asotasi were the only players to cross for the Wolves.
The win lifted Huddersfield above St Helens on points difference, while Warrington are left in sixth following the loss. Huddersfield showed their intent from the opening exchanges. A quick play-the-ball released Jamie Ellis who ran across the defence before passing to Danny Brough.
Without hesitation, Brough sent a long-ranging pass over attackers and defenders which landed in the hands of Aaron Murphy who dived over in the corner. Brough matched the pass with a conversion from the corner to make it 6-0.
There was a controversial moment when Brough put up a kick which Stefan Ratchford and Scott Grix both went up for in the goal area. The ball bounced off the two players and Daniel Smith claimed the ball to dot down over the line, but the referee called a knock on.
Giants were able to make amends, through individual power from McGillvary, who crashed over in the right-hand corner - despite attention from three Warrington defenders. Brough stepped up to prove he can kick from either touchline to extend the lead to 12 points.
McGillvary went over for his second try untouched when quick hands released him near the touchline with just one defender to beat. He stepped inside to give Brough his easiest conversion of the half to hand Huddersfield an 18-0 lead at half-time.
McGillvary opened the second-half scoring with his third try, but his score also brought about Brough's first miss of the afternoon. Brough missed again two minutes later when Joe Wardle crossed for the Giants to make it 26-0.
Westwood got his side on the board when Daryl Clarke ran the ball up to the Huddersfield defence and put him through a gap, however, Chris Sandow pushed the conversion wide. Wolves scored again, this time through Asotasi, and when Sandow added the extras it was 26-10 and Warrington looked to have sparked life into the game.
But Huddersfield moved quickly to eradicate the momentum, as Murphy added two more to his name, while McGillvary crossed for his fourth in the 68th minute. Ellis scored the final try of the match, which was converted, giving the Giants a convincing win at home at a crucial time in the season.
